Week 17 Recap
Written by Grim
Tuesday, 03 January 2012 10:17

Point spread Pool
The final week of the regular season ended with Giantsman and Big Mac at 11-5 and needing the tie breaker to determine the winner. Giantsman prevailed with a tie breaker difference of just 3 points, leaving Big Mac settling for 2nd place. Hilokane, Koston and CaptMyers round out the top-five, all at 10-6. Congratulations, Rich!
In the Season standings, SlotCarAce and Rex trade places for the 2nd week in-a-row, with Rex moving back into  3rd and SlotCarAce dropping to 4th:

  1. Grim (--)
  2. RickF (--)
  3. Rex (+1)
  4. SlotCarAce (-1)
  5. fp373487 (--)

For the first time in the 15-16 year history of running an NFL Pool, I somehow managed to hold onto the lead in the season standings and finished with an 8 game difference over RickF. I held the lead for 13 of the 17 weeks of the pool, most closely pursued by Rex who held 2nd place in the season standings for 7 weeks, only to drop to 3rd then 4th in the closing weeks, then move back into 3rd in week 17. Complete season standings are here, and if you're really into stats, check out the Player StatPaks here, and Player Analysts here.

Margin Pool
Benemike picked Jacksonville in the Margin pool in week 17, and was rewarded with just 6 points, enough to increase his lead and finish 60 points ahead of RickF. Rick moved into 2nd place with his Atlanta pick while BMUFF lost 4 points picking Denver. Benemike will collect $98 and RickF wins $42.

Playoffs Pool
The pick sheet for Wild Card weekend is already online. Deadline for picks is 11:30am PST on Saturday, 2 hours before the first kickoff. No sign-up sheet for the pool, just make your picks for Wild Card weekend and immediately send in your $10 payment via mail or PayPal before the start of the Divisional playoffs. I'd love to see more participation in the playoffs pool this season, so feel free to invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to join in on the fun!

Wild Card Preview
Two Saturday games and Two Sunday games this week.  In the NFC,  New Orleans is a 10.5 favorite over Detroit, and the Giants are a 2.5 point favorite over Atlanta. In the AFC, Pittsburgh is favored by 8.5 over Denver and Houston is favored by 2.5 over Cincinnati.
